Product Description
7075 aluminum plate is a typical example of Al-Zn-Mg-Cu (aluminum-zinc-magnesium-copper) series heat-treatable strengthened aluminum alloy. Through a special cold treatment forging process and heat treatment to form precipitated strengthening phases, it achieves extremely high specific strength and is one of the preferred materials in advanced fields such as aerospace and high-stress molds.
Main advantages and features:
Outstanding strength-to-weight ratio: The tensile strength at T6 state can reach over 560 MPa, and the density is approximately 1/3 of that of steel. Its strength-to-density ratio is even better among commercial aluminum alloys, making it ideal for achieving excellent lightweighting.
Excellent thermal stability and low-temperature performance: It can maintain strength for a long time below 150°C, and has particularly good low-temperature strength, suitable for high-altitude low-temperature or situations with temperature rise.
Good mechanical processing performance: Despite its extremely high strength, its cutting machinability is excellent, allowing for precise dimensions and smooth surfaces. The fine grain structure also improves drilling accuracy and tool life.
Inherent application limitations: Its high strength characteristics also bring two main weaknesses:
Stress corrosion cracking (SCC) tendency: It is prone to cracking under the combined action of stress and corrosive media. This can usually be improved through two-stage aging (such as T73, T76 states), but it will result in a loss of some strength.
Poor weldability: Fusion welding is prone to generating hot cracks, so load-bearing structures usually adopt riveting or bolt connections instead of welding.
Main application fields:
Aerospace and security industries (classic applications)
Main load-bearing structure of aircraft: Widely used to manufacture key components such as aircraft wing skins, panels, fuselage stringers, frames, landing gear support beams, etc.
Other advanced equipment: Applied to missile casings, spacecraft fuel tanks, vehicle armor plates, etc.
Advanced mold manufacturing:
Due to its high hardness, excellent wear resistance and good polishing properties, it is often used to manufacture precision molds, such as blow molding molds for aerospace plastic parts, ultrasonic plastic welding molds, shoe molds, and foaming molding molds, etc.
High-stress machinery and motion equipment:
Industrial equipment: Jigs, templates, and high-load parts used in manufacturing high-performance machine tools.
High-grade motion equipment: Materials used to manufacture professional-level aluminum alloy bicycle frames, motorcycle rocker arms, climbing equipment, and golf club heads, which have outstanding requirements for strength and lightweight.
Other specialized fields:
It is also applied in precision instruments requiring extremely high rigidity and stability, as well as in optical equipment brackets and high-speed rotating components.
