5A02 aluminum alloy is a typical example of aluminum-magnesium (Al-Mg) series anti-corrosion aluminum, corresponding to the old designation LF2. Its main feature is that, while maintaining the excellent corrosion resistance of aluminum-magnesium alloys, it achieves higher fatigue strength and excellent plasticity through a lower magnesium content (approximately 2.0 - 2.8%), making it a key material for manufacturing aircraft fuel tanks, fluid conduits, etc., which require high reliability and good formability.
Main advantages and features:
Balance of high strength and high plasticity: The unique aspect of 5A02 is that it combines high fatigue strength with good plasticity. This enables it to have higher reliability when subjected to alternating loads (such as the pressure changes in an aircraft fuel tank during flight), while also meeting the deep drawing requirements for complex-shaped fuel tanks.
Corrosion resistance mechanism: As an aluminum-magnesium alloy, its surface can form a dense oxide film, and the magnesium content is low with few impurity phases, thus possessing excellent overall corrosion resistance.
Welding precautions: Excellent weldability is the foundation for it to become a welding structural material, but the tendency for crystalline cracks during argon arc welding is a key control point for its application. In actual production, it is necessary to strictly control the welding process parameters and select appropriate filler materials.

Aerospace (typical application)
Aircraft fuel tanks and fuel system: This is a classic and important application scenario for 5A02. By leveraging its excellent welding properties, high fatigue resistance, and resistance to corrosion from aviation fuel, it is used to manufacture the main and auxiliary fuel tanks of aircraft as well as various lubricating oil and gasoline conduits. Domestic enterprises have been conducting research and supplying it as a special aluminum material for aircraft fuel tanks.
Transportation and ships
Ship equipment: Used for manufacturing interior panels, ventilation ducts, and舾装件 of ships, thanks to its excellent resistance to seawater corrosion.
Vehicle components: Applicable to sheet metal parts and flanges in rail vehicles and automobiles that require good formability.
Chemical and General Industries
Various pressure vessels and fluid pipelines: Widely used in the manufacture of chemical equipment, liquid containers (especially in the food and chemical industries), as well as pipeline systems for transporting gases, gasoline, and lubricants. Their high plasticity and corrosion resistance ensure the safety and long-term performance of the equipment.
Bolt wire: The wire condition is often used for manufacturing bolts and is suitable for connection scenarios that require good corrosion resistance.
