Product Description
5A05 is a medium-strength aluminum-magnesium alloy that resists rusting. It is a type of deformation aluminum alloy that cannot be strengthened through heat treatment. Its strength is enhanced through cold processing (such as rolling). With its excellent comprehensive performance, outstanding weldability and plasticity, it has stable applications in the aerospace and general welding structure fields.
Main advantages and features:
Main alloying element: Magnesium (Mg) is the primary added element, with a content of approximately 4.8% - 5.5%. Magnesium is solid-solved in aluminum to form a solid solution, which plays a prominent strengthening role and gives it excellent corrosion resistance. Corrosion resistance: It exhibits good corrosion resistance in the atmosphere, fresh water, and seawater environments, making it a typical rust-proof aluminum. However, when in the cold work-hardened state or when exposed to certain specific media for a long time, attention should be paid to its ability to resist stress corrosion cracking.
Welding performance: Excellent welding performance. It can be welded using methods such as argon arc welding, resistance welding, etc. The welding joint strength is high, making it a commonly used material for manufacturing welded structures.
Cutting and forming: Poor cutting performance in the annealed state; improved after cold work hardening. Its cold forming performance is excellent, especially suitable for sheet metal processing.
Main application fields:
Aerospace sector: Traditionally used for manufacturing medium-load or non-load-bearing welded and riveted structural components such as aircraft skins, internal frameworks, ribs, and partition frames. Also used for manufacturing aircraft fuel tanks and fuel lines.
Transportation sector: Used for welding vehicle body panels, interior panels, boxes, and various sheet metal structural components in rail vehicles and automobiles to achieve lightweighting.
Shipbuilding and marine engineering: Applied to non-primary load-bearing structures of ships such as superstructures, compartment partitions, and doors and windows, taking advantage of its resistance to seawater corrosion.
General industry and container manufacturing: Often used for manufacturing liquid containers (such as chemical tanks), fuel and lubricant conduits, ventilation ducts, and various hardware components and welded frames that require good formability.
